A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND
THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD
AGREEMENT FOR THE STATE CRIMINAL ALIEN
ASSISTANCE REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM F ROM T HE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and
declares as follows:
The Santa Ana Police Department has been selected to receive a grant
from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance, in the amount of $66,800.00, for FY 2003 funding year.
The State Criminal Alien Assistance Reimbursement Program was
instituted to reimburse State and local agencies with correctional facilities
that incarcerate or detain undocumented criminal aliens for four or more
consecutive days.
These funds partially offset the cost of housing undocumented criminal
aliens incarcerated during fiscal year 2001-2002.
Section 2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager and the Chief of Police,
or their designees, to execute the 2003 State Criminal Alien Assistance Reimbursement
Program Grant Agreement in the amount of $66,800.00.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by
the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
