DISCUSSION
On September 15, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract for the Pine
Street Water Main Improvements project to R&L Sewers, Inc. in the
estimated amount of $259,411.20 plus a ten percent contingency totaling
$285,352. The Poly Vinyl Chloride water line will replace an existing
six-inch cast iron water line along Pine Street, east of Raitt Street and
west of Flower Street that was built in the 1920's.
During construction, the actual quantity of an 8-inch pipe was found to
be more than the estimated quantity for the project. Given this
circumstance, it is necessary to increase the contract amount with R&L
Sewers, Inc. by an estimated cost of $20,000 in order to complete this
.project.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
There is no environmental impact associated with this action.
