RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and
the Clerk of the Council to renew the service agreement with Motorola,
· nc., to service the Police Department's vehicle radio modems and radio
network controller in an amount not to exceed $33,000.
~SCUSSION
In 1997 the Police Department was awarded a federal ~COPS MORE" grant to
purchase laptop computers for use by patrol personnel. As part of the
project implementation, Motorola, Inc., was selected as the department's
vendor for the vehicle radio modems and the radio network controller.
These items allow the officer's laptop computers to communicate with the
police communications center. In order to keep these components in good
working condition it is necessary to renew the one-year service
agreement. Motorola modems are proprietary and can only be serviced by
Motorola, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT
· Funds are available in the Computer Services Maintenance & Repair
