RECOMMENDED ACTION
Amend the contract with Zondiros Corporation for the project of sewer
system spot repair at various locations to increase the amount by $40,000
for a total contract amount of $205,633.
~ISCUSSION
On September 15, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract for sewer
system spot repair at various locations to Zondiros Corporation in the
estimated amount of $150,575 plus a ten percent contingency totaling
$165,633. The project involves making necessary repairs to the sanitary
sewer system at various locations throughout the city to prevent sewage
from leaking into the groundwater.
The estimated quantity of the repairs was based on video inventories of
the City's existing sewer system. However, after excavation the actual
quantity of repairs was found to be considerably more than expected.
Hairline cracks that could not be seen by the video camera are now
visible. Given this circumstance, it is necessary to increase the
contract amount with Zondiros Corporation by $40,000 to complete this
project.
