RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting $113,300 from the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistant to Firefighters Grant, and
transferring $48,557 from the Fire Department as the City's matching
requirement, and appropriate $161,857 to the FEMA Grant account for the
acquisition of Vehicle Exhaust Removal Systems.
.DISCUSSION
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters
Grant for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program funds will provide
Vehicle Exhaust Removal Systems for Fire Stations 4, 6 and 9. The
installation of these emission extraction systems will bring the Fire
Department into compliance with current ventilation codes, and are required
by the California Occupational Safety Health Agency and National Fire
Protection Association.
FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the appropriation adjustment, will increase revenues in the
FY03 FEMA Grant account (account no. 146-01-5350-2) by $113,300, transfer
$48,557 from the Fire Maintenance account(account no. 11-327-6641), and
increase the expenditure appropriation for the FY03 FEMA Grant account by
the total amount of $161,857 (account no. 146-328-6641).
