DISCUSSION The Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services Division requires patient transport stair chairs to assist. in the transporting of patients down flights of stairs and through narrow hallways, or in elevators that are too small to accommodate gurneys. Without the stair chairs, the firefighters have to improvise ways to move patients without harming the patient or themselves. The Stryker Stair-Pro stair chairs are equipped with ergonomic safety fèatures and accessories, and will be used for all frontline medic units. The notice inviting bids was advertised on January 26-27, 2004, and bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: 4 Invitations For Bid mailed 1 Bid received Bids were received and opened on February 9, 2004.
