RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to Commercial Interior Resources for floor covering in
an amount not to exceed $21,000.
. DISCUSSION
The four-story Santa Ana Police Administration and Jail Facility opened
in January 1997, and is operational 24 hours per day. Approximately
2,224 sq. ft. of carpeting covers two stairways in the building. Due
to the frequent foot traffic, the carpeting requires replacement.
Bids were solicited, but no responses were received. Subsequently,
staff considered additional mass solicitation of bids an idle act, and
contacted Commercial Interior Resources to negotiate a price based on
an acceptable proposal. Staff recommends approval of the contract.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Police Building and Facilities Fund account
(account no. 11-350-6391).
