Fire Department in an amount not to exceed $166,000. DISCUSSION The Fire Department utilizes a fire alerting system that works in combination with a Computer Aided Dispatch System to alert fire stations of emergency calls. To enhance the effectiveness of the City's existing alerting system a new system was designed by the Santa Ana Fire Department and Teleque On Fire. The new alerting system fulfills the Department's requirements and is compatible with the Computer Aided Dispatch System. The Teleque On Fire Model 10 Programmable Logic Controller and Data Protocol Converter is unique to the industry because it can be integrated with three alerting sources. These sources include Two-Way Radios, Paging, Computer Aided Dispatch, Wire line and Voice Over Internet Protocol. The 911 telephones are required for each fire station by the National Fire Protection Association and will replace fire alarm boxes which are non functional and non replaceable. The 911 telephones are required to be placed at the front entrance of all fire stations. The purpose of the 911 telephones is to provide the public with access to the 911 emergency system if an emergency needs to be reported.
