Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute agreement amendments with Acosta Associates
and ~O" Entertainment to provide a total of eight carnivals at designated
City parks.
DISCUSSION
4IÞn March 17, 2003, the City Council authorized staff to enter into
agreements with two carnival promoters to provide a total of eight
community carnivals in four designated City parks. The agreements were for
a period of one year with an option to extend the agreements for two
additional one-year terms.
The 2003 carnival season is concluded, and the 2004 season is commencing.
Because of the construction of the Hector Godinez High School at Centennial
Park, that park is no longer an available venue. As a result, we are
recommending adding Delhi Park as a replacement for the Centennial Park
carni val venue. The parks available to host carnivals in 2004 are: El
Salvador, Madison, Jerome, Cesar Chavez Campesino, and Delhi. The carnival
promoters are required to make contributions to recreational programs, and
these funds total $40,000. Carnivals at Madison and Jerome parks each
require a $6500 amount, and $3500 is required at the other venues.
FISCAL IMPACT
The contributions to Youth Programs will be added to in the FY 04-05 Agency
budget
