to execute all
grant funding
In March 2000, California voters approved Proposition 13 (2000 Water
Bond), which authorized the State of California to sell $1.97 billion in
general obligation bonds to support safe drinking, water quality, flood
protection and water reliability projects throughout the State. In June
of 2000, the Public Works Agency applied for, and was approved for two
different grants under the Proposition 13 Program. This Program provides
grants to municipalities, local public agencies, and nonprofit
organizations for storm water pollution prevention projects.
The first grant was approved for the City's Urban Runoff Reduction
Outreach Program. This program will develop and disseminate storm water
related educational materials targeted at businesses, school aged
children and residents of the City. The second grant will enhance the
City's storm drain facility inspection, GIS inventory, and Inspection of
Storm Drain Facilities Program. After execution of the contracts with
the State Water Resources Control Board the city will complete both
programs by mid-year 2006.
