RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to POwer Toyota of Cerritos for the purchase of five
hybrid Prius vehicles in the amount not to exceed $123,560.38.
. DISCUSSION
The City has elected to participate in the South Coast Air Quality
Management District's (AQMD) hYdrogen conversion proj ect through the
purchase of five new hybrid Toyota Prius gas/electric vehicles. It is
anticipated that the AQMD will then convert the vehicles to hydrogen
power and monitor the performance of the vehicles over the next five
years.
The City will replace vehicles that have already been identified
through the current replacement schedule. currently, five 1991 to 1994
vehicles have been identified for replacement due to age, mileage, and
condition. The vehicles will be utilized by the Workers' Compensation
Unit, the Housing Authority, The Depot, Community Preservation, and New
Construction divisions.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 27-28, 2004, and bids
were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is
as follows:

City's requirements.
