N"tJJi;rZ CONTINUED TO ,.1 FILE NUMBER CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to TFN Architectural Signage, Inc., a Santa Ana vendor, to provide all labor, materials, and incidentals to implement . graphics and signage for the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park - New Children's Zoo in the amount of $97,425.71. DISCUSSION The new children's zoo, the Crean Family Farm, is currently under construction in the southwest corner of the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. The two-acre site is scheduled to open in the summer of 2004, and will feature eight buildings, including a two-story barn with an education classroom that will house a wide 'variety of rare domestic animals. Within the farm setting, children will learn about our community's agricultural heritage, the value of genetic diversity, and the need for conversation. Graphics and signage required to enhance the Crean Family Farm include animal location and identification signs, encyclopedic signs explaining each animal, their origin and character, and a sign for program events. The recommended action will allow for the installation of the graphics and signage component. . 22C-1 . . Contract Award for Signs at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park - New Children's Zoo (Spec. No. 04-027) April 19, 2004 Page 2 . The notice inviting bids was advertised on February 25-26, 2004 and bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: 3 Invitations For Bid mailed 2 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors 3 Bids received 2 Bids received from Santa Ana vendors Bids were received and opened on March 24, 2004 (Exhibit 1). The bid received from TFN Architectural Signage, Inc. is responsive to the specification and meets the City's requirements. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the Recreation Grants Fund California State Park . Bond Improvements Other Than Buildings account (account no. 169-270- 6631, Project 6361). Svcs.
