RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to amend agreement Spec 2001-070 with Thyssen Krupp
Elevators Corporation in the amount of $5,000.
WISCUSSION
The City maintains an agreement with the Thyssen Krupp Elevators
Corporation to provide preventative maintenance and emergency repair
services to public elevators located in City Hall, Ross Annex, the Main
Library and the Corporation Yard. The maintenance agreement ensures that
the elevators operate in good working condition and provide reliable
service. In the past year, the three elevators at City Hall were
overhauled to ensure continued reliability. However, during this repair
period each elevator was out of service for approximately four months and
resulted in extraordinary use of the other two elevators. The additional
usage caused several mechanical breakdowns that required emergency
repairs. The scope of work and cost involved to repair these elevators
exceeded the agreement and therefore requires an amendment to ensure
continued elevator operation through the current fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Finance Maintenance and Repair Machinery and
Equipment account (73-105-6291).
