DISCUSSION
In order to perform maintenance and repair duties on the City's water
systems, the Public Works Agency requires an assortment of materials
such as bushings, flanges, nuts, and stops. The materials are
purchased through the Central Stores warehouse for distribution. The
contract for the brass water service fittings is designed to provide
quality products at significant savings based on quantity pricing.

Bids were received, opened on April 28, 2004, and evaluated (Exhibit
1). The bids received from Marden Susco, S & J Supply Col, Inc., and
from Ferguson Waterworks and Wells Supply Co., both Santa Ana vendors,
are responsive to the specification in their respective categories.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Public Works Water System Maintenance and
Water Quality and Measurement Operating Materials and Supplies account
(account nos. 64-575-6391 and 64-578-6391) .
