CITY MANAGER
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Amend the contract with United Rentals to increase the aggregate limit
by $10,000, for equipment rental and supplies, in an annual amount not
to exceed $20,000.
. DISCUSSION
The City establishes an annual blanket order list consisting of vendors
that provide supplies and services that are required by agencies on a
consistent basis. United Rentals has been a provider of supplies and
equipment rented by Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency,
Public Works Agency, and the Finance & Management Service Agency's
Fleet Maintenance Division. United Rentals, a Santa Ana vendor, offers
reliable service, competitive pricing and has consistently been the
lowest responsive bidder on rental equipment.
During the past year, City agencies rented and purchased equipment and
supplies for special projects as well as for a wide variety of routine
duties. Equipment purchases are competitively quoted. Equipment
rentals are processed with material releases on blanket order
agreements. Rentals include, but are not limited to: manlifts,
generators, chain saws, skid steer loader, sod cutters, stake bed
trucks with lift gates, carpet cleaners, plumbing power snakes,
electric rotary hammers, concrete trailers with double axles, and
electric scissors. Staff requests approval to increase the aggregate
limit for United Rentals to provide uninterrupted purchases of supplies
. and rental of equipment as needed.
