RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with Symco
Group, Inc, extending the agreement through June 30, 2005, in an amount
not to exceed $70,000 for mainframe computer maintenance, equipment and
technical services.
8DISCUSSION
The City's computerized financial system relies on the Information
Services Division to input, process, and post daily transactions to the
Lawson financial system and Business Licensing systems. To accomplish this
task, the Information Services staff utilizes Unisys V380 mainframe
computer equipment maintained by the Symco Group, Inc. The first one-year
extension to the agreement with the Symco Group, Inc. will expire on June
30, 2004. Under the terms of the initial agreement, the City has the
option to extend the term for a second additional year.
Consistent with the terms and conditions of the existing agreement, staff
proposes to redefine the scope of the work to include the purchase of
replacement sub-assemblies in the case of a failure or other reason not
covered by the maintenance services of the agreement. Such purchases would
not exceed $12,930.
