RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award contracts for car wash and detailing for a two-year period, with
provision for two one-year renewals, in the annual aggregate amount not
to exceed $25,000 with the following Santa Ana vendors:

DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department and Finance and Management Services
Agency's Fleet Maintenance Division use car wash and detailing services
to perform vehicle washing and detailed interior cleaning on
approximately 500 vehicles. Maintaining the vehicle interiors and
exteriors contributes to overall vehicle longevity as well as the
ability to obtain top dollar during auction. In addition, a clean,
maintained vehicle demonstrates a positive and professional image to
the community.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on

Car Wash and Detailing
Bids were received and opened on May 11, 2004 (Exhibit 1). The bids
from the Harbor Blvd. Car Wash, Main Street Car Wash and Z & H Happy
Hands Corp., all Santa Ana vendors, are responsive to the
specifications and meet the City's requirements. Staff recommends
awarding contracts to three local vendors to provide service throughout
the City as required.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Fleet Service Equipment Maintenance
Operations Maintenance & Repair Machinery & Equipment account
no. 75-111-6281) and the Criminal Activities Fund Other
Services ac unt (account no. 26-342-6291).
