HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-08-1971MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA January 8, 1971 The Special Meeting was called to order at 9:05 A.M., in the Mayor's Office, City Hall, 217 North Main Street, with the following Councilmen present: Wade Herrin, Vernon S. Evans, J. Ogden Markel, Jerry M. Patterson, Harry K. Yamamoto, and Mayor Lorin Griset. Councilman Ray Villa was absent. Also present were City Manager Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney William L. Mock, Clerk of the Council Florence I. Malone, and representatives of the Press. Proper notice of the Special Meeting had been mailed and posted by the Clerk of the Council, with affidavits of Notice and Posting on file. The meeting had been called by the Mayor to consider the Bond Issue recommendation from the Santa Ana Blue Ribbon Bond Study Committee. The Mayor recognized Mr. Courtney Chandler, Chairman of the Bond Study Committee, who read aloud the letter of recommendation from the Committee dated January 6, 1971. It recommended that the following propositions be placed on the ballot for the Municipal Election to be held on April 6, 1971: Proposition A Streets and Street Lighting Storm Drains Sewers Fire Protection Proposition B Parks and Recreation (including a senior citizen building, and acquisition and development of a central city park) Proposition C Museum Land Acquisition Proposition D Library 8,755,000 4,843,000 2,306,000 1, 096,000 4,900,000 500,000 500,000 17,000,000 4,900,000 500,000 500,000 22,900,000 CITY COUNCIL ~12% January 8, 1971 On motion of Councilman Yamamoto, seconded by Councilman Patterson and unanimously carried, the report of the Santa Aha Blue Ribbon Bond Study Committee, dated January 6, 1971, was accepted with appreciation for the time and effort expended by the Committee on the Cityts behalf. It was the consensus of the Council that further study be given to the report before reaching a decision on the recommendation. ADJOURNMENT At 10:40 A. M. , the Special Meeting was adjourned to Monday, January 11, 1971, at 8:00 A.M. , in the Mayor's Office, City Hall, 217 North Main Street, on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Patterson.
