Claudio as a representative from the State of California Employment Development Department to the Santa Ana workforce Investment Board. DJ:SCUSSJ:ON On March 6, 2000, the City Council adopted a resolution establishing the Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board (WIB) and appointed 33 members. In accordance with the federal legislation, a majority of the Board and Board Chair must come from the private sector. The remaining Board seats represent education, non-profit organizations, one-stop mandated partners and local labor organizations. Currently, there are three vacancies on the Board, including one private sector vacancy, one labor vacancy, and one vacancy dedicated to the State of California Employment Development Department (EDD). Staff is recruiting candidates for the private sector and the labor seats. The EDD seat was vacated due to the retirement of Peggy Crawford-Daugherty. EDD is recommending that her replacement, Robert B. Claudio, Field Office Manager for Santa Ana and Anaheim, fill this vacant seat on the board. Mr. Claudio's resume is attached as Exhibit 1. Whitaker Executive Director Community Development Agency PCW/PN/mlr H:\Actions\2004CC\ApptfromEDDtoSAWIB 9-7-04 138-2 Bio for Rob Claudio Rob Claudio, a California native originally from Brawley in the Imperial Valley, has been involved in economic development with government agencies and the private sector for over 15 years. He is a graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a self initiated Minor in Public Relations, Advertising and Management. For The Employment Development Department (EDD) he has been a Site Manager for the San Diego Metro Career Center (SDMCC), Employer Services Manager for San Diego County and most recently Field Office Manager for the Anaheim and Santa Ana offices. In addition, he has worked with the Director's Office in reviewing Central Operations, as well as field offices through out the State. He was elected to the Board of Directors of San Diego Career Opportunities Partners, a non-profit agency that was formed to bid and operate the San Diego Metro Career Center. Afterwards, he was contracted as the Assistant Director of the SDMCC managing Workforce Investment Area (WIA) programs and staff before coming to Orange County in 2002. Since 2001 he has served as the State Legislative Chair for the California Chapter. of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP), an association that encompasses primarily EDD staff from the various branches through out the State. Most recently, he has worked as a Consultant with Clinicas De Salud Del Pueblo, a healthcare organization providing services to the farm worker community in the Desert Southwest, in incorporating Excellence and Leadership Development for their organization. With undying enthusiasm, humor and a pledge to excellence, Rob hopes to continue his work within this community and assist in taking great strides to enhance workforce & economic development for the Santa Ana region. Claudio, Manager of the Santa Ana Job Service, to serve as EDD's representative on the Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board. Rob replaces Peggy Crawford- Dougherty. Prior to coming to Santa Ana, Rob served as manager of the Anaheim EDD Job Service for two years. In that capacity he directed all major Job Service programs in that very busy facility. He is the current State Legislative Chair for the California Chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals. Before coming to Orange County, Rob held several staff and management positions in San Diego, including Assistant Director of the San Diego Metro One-Stop Center, and Manager of the San Diego EDD Employer Services Team. He recently provided organizational development services to Clinicas De Salud Del Pueblo, a healthcare organization for the farmworker community in the Desert Southwest. Rob is a graduate of San Diego State University and a resident of the City of Santa Ana.
