RECOMMENDED ACTION
Appoint Robert B. Claudio as a representative from the State of California
Employment Development Department to the Santa Ana workforce Investment
Board.
DJ:SCUSSJ:ON
On March 6, 2000, the City Council adopted a resolution establishing the
Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board (WIB) and appointed 33 members. In
accordance with the federal legislation, a majority of the Board and Board
Chair must come from the private sector. The remaining Board seats
represent education, non-profit organizations, one-stop mandated partners
and local labor organizations.
Currently, there are three vacancies on the Board, including one private
sector vacancy, one labor vacancy, and one vacancy dedicated to the State
of California Employment Development Department (EDD). Staff is
recruiting candidates for the private sector and the labor seats. The EDD
seat was vacated due to the retirement of Peggy Crawford-Daugherty. EDD
is recommending that her replacement, Robert B. Claudio, Field Office
Manager for Santa Ana and Anaheim, fill this vacant seat on the board.
Mr. Claudio's resume is attached as Exhibit 1. Staff will continue to
work to fill the remaining two vacancies on the Board.
