RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with DuChesne & Associates
LLC, to conduct an operational audit of the Police Department's Evidence
Section in an amount not to exceed $40,000.
DISCUSSION
The Police Department recommends entering into an agreement with DuChesne
& Associates to provide an administrative and operational review and audit
of the Evidence Section. During the course of this review and audit, we
anticipate that several initiatives for improvement will be identified.
These ini tiati ves will create an opportunity to effectuate departmental
improvements and address key issues related to enhancing operational
effectiveness. Staff recommends entering into this agreement as DuChesne
& Associates LLC recently completed a similar proj ect for the Police
Department's Gang Investigations Section and is familiar with the Police
Department operations.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Police Department's Building and Facili ties
Other Contractual Services account (account no. 011-350-6291).
