RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Dahl, Taylor &
Associates, Inc. to provide electrical engineering services at Fire
Stations 3 and 8, in an amount not to exceed $33,660.
DISCUSSION
The Fire Department needs to upgrade the electrical service, power
distribution and lighting at Stations 3 and 8 to maintain effective
operations. Similar upgrades occurred in 2003 at stations 2 and 7. Three
Request For Proposals (RFP 03-106) were received and evaluated in January
2004. After the evaluation the company of Dahl, Taylor and Associates,
Inc., a Santa Ana company, was selected as the most responsive to the Fire
Department's needs. Their proposed cost is $15,300 per fire station, for a
total of $30,600. In addition, the Fire Department would like to include a
10 percent contingency of $3,360 to ensure adequate funding is available in
the event of any unforeseen costs.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in FY 2004/2005 in the Fire Department's Fire
Maintenance Other Contractual Services account (account no. 11-327-6291).
