DISCUSSION
In order to perform maintenance, installation, and replacement of the
City's traffic signs, the Public Works Agency requires an assortment of
materials such as decals, signposts, and fasteners. The materials are
purchased through the Central Stores warehouse for distribution to the
Public Works Agency.
On October 15, 2001, the City Council awarded contracts for traffic
signs and related hardware to Zumar Industries, Inc., Traffic Control
Services, Inc. and Western Highway Products, Inc. for a two-year period
with provision for two one-year renewals. The vendors have performed
satisfactorily during the past contract period, and staff recommends the
final renewal of the contract.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Stores Inventory account (account no. 75-01-
1131) and will be recovered by charging back to the Public Works Agency
various operating activities (object code 6391).
