DISCUSSION In September 2004, the City was awarded $350,000 in grant funding for a Santa Ana Interagency Pedestrian Safety Program. The grant monies will be paid out over two years. This joint program spearheaded by the Public Works Agency and the Police Department will provide the following: - Public pedestrian safety education outreach targeting children and senior citizens - Pedestrian count down signal heads at approximately 50 signalized intersections - Two radar speed trailers Enhanced police patrols in areas with heavy pedestrian activity ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT There is no environmental impact associated with the appropriation adjustment. 200-1 Appropriation Adjustment Accepting Office of Traffic Safety Funds October 18, 2004 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT Approval of the appropriation adjustment will accept $240,960 in the Office of Traffic Safety Grant Fund (account no. 165-01-5354) and appropriate $240,960 in various OTS Pedestrian Safety expenditure accounts.
