RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Simplex Grinnell for the
maintenance and service for a one year period, with provision for two one-
year renewals, in an annual amount not to exceed $23,145.69
DISCUSSION
City Hall, the Ross Annex, the Corporation Yard and other City facilities
are served by various fire alarm systems. The preventive maintenance and
repair services provided will include materials, skilled-labor,
supervision, tools, supplies, and testing equipment. In addition,
inspections will maintain the fire alarm systems in first class operating
condition to maintain the safety and operation of the equipment, and to
meet all applicable laws and regulations.
On September 14, 2004 four requests for proposals were mailed to four
vendors. On October 22, 2004 one proposal was received, one vendor
declined the invitation, and two did not reply to the proposal. The
proposal from Simplex Grinnell was responsive to the specifications and
meets the City requirements. Simplex Grinnell will maintain the same
price the entire duration of the agreement.
