These non-safety classifications will be assigned duties currently performed by full-time personnel and will assist the department in responding to increasingly greater work demands without additional full-time staffing. Fire Communications Operators will be used on an as-needed basis to perform emergency dispatching functions in the Fire Communications Center. Fire Prevention Assistants will conduct State-mandated building inspections, relieving the full-time Fire Safety Specialists of that responsibility and allowing them to focus on plan check and public counter operations. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact associated with this actio . d- Agency 55A-1 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-086 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO AMEND THE CITY'S BASIC CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN TO ADD TWO NEW PART TIME CLASSIFICATION TITLES IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: A. Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval of the City Council. B. On August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 82- 110 revising and re-establishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan for Officers and Employees of the City of Santa Ana. C. In order to continue to provide efficient and effective fire emergency and prevention services with diminished resources, the Fire Chief proposes to create two (2) new part time classification titles. Section 2: That section 3.5.1 Class Titles and Waoe Rates for Seasonal and Other Unaffiliated Cateoories of Non-Civil Service Part-Time Employment of Resolution No. 82- 110, as amended, be further amended by adding the following part-time titles, assigned to the five hourly pay steps set forth below: Basic Hourly Waoe Rates Effective 7/01/04: Class Title Step A Step B Step C Step D Step E Fire Communications Operator $24.32 $25.54 $26.82 $28.17 $29.57 Fire Prevention Assistant $21.51 $22.59 $23.72 $24.91 $26.15 Section 3: That except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of Resolution No. 82-110, as amended, shall remain in full force and effect.
