RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and
the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with
Tetra Tech, Inc. in the amount of $11,500 for a total contract amount not
to exceed $45,000 for design revisions and construction support for the
elevated tank improvements.
DISCUSSION
In May of 2004, City Council awarded a contract to Tetra Tech, Inc. to
design and provide construction support services for improvements to the
City's elevated water tank. The site is located at Fourteenth and
Poinsettia Streets in Santa Ana (Exhibit 1).
The design is 95 percent complete and consists of new interior and
exterior coatings, structural modifications, and safety upgrades. City
staff has requested some additional features that were not included in
the original scope of work. These features would include modifications
to the existing walkway to provide a secure platform landing area for
personnel scaling the tank, a new safety climb assembly, and a small
chain hoist for hauling up tools and equipment.
