DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department is in the beginning stages of upgrading its
communications center and is eligible to receive funds from the California
9-1-1 Emergency Communications Office. These state funds may only be used
for replacing or upgrading the department's communications center. The
Department plans to use these funds to purchase communication/radio
equipment, 9-1-1 phone equipment, computer hardware, software, dispatch
furniture, and to pay for facility remOdeling. The upgraded communications
center will decrease officer response time to calls for service and in
turn, increase the safety for both the officers and the community.
