OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
July 8, 1974
The meeting was called to order in Room 831, City Hall, 20
Civic Center Plaza, at 4:05 P.M., by Mayor Jerry M. Patterson,
proper Notice and Posting having been accomplished, with
affidavits on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council.
The following Councilmen were present: J. Ogden Markel,
Harry K. Yamamoto, James E. Ward, Vernon S. Evans, Lorin
Griset, and Mayor Jerry M. Patterson. Councilman John Gartke
arrived at 4:25 P.M. Also present were representatives from
the Press and the following Staff members: City. Manager Bruce
C. Spragg, City Attorney James A. Withers, Director of pu5lic
Works donald Wolford and Clerk of the Council Florence I'.
Malone.

The Council continued
its review, of tke
proposed Budget for
the Department of
1974~75.
During the discussion regarding refuse collection~ Council
expressed an interest in tke development of a re¢cycl~ng
(newspapers, etc.) policy and in maintaining a completely,
self-supporting refuse collection service.
The following corrections were made:
Page 132:
Account 51-511 Item 641~ next to last line;
Change "2 compact sedans, numbers 5,08 and
5-18" to "3 compact sedans, numbers 5~08,
and 5-18".
Account 51~551
Page 134:
Delete rtem 631.
Account 51-563 Item 631, add to "New signal
projects": Warner and Hallada~, Council conr,
sensus was to appropriate additional funds for
the installation rather tkan delete any of those
included in the proposed Budget,
Council completed its page:by..page review of the operating
and capital budget for the Department of Public h~orks,
totaling $6,791,920,

of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto.
