OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
November 26, 1974
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana was convened by Vice Mayor Evans at 8:35 A.M., in Room
831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, proper Notice and posting
having been accomplished, with affidavits on file in the office
of the Clerk of the Council. The following Councilmen responded
to roll call: J. Ogden Markel, Harry K. Yamamoto, James E.
Ward, Lorin Griset and Vice Mayor Vernon S. Evans. Councilman
John Garthe was absent; Mayor Jerry M. Patterson arrived at
8:40 A.M.
The following Staff members were also present: City Manager
Bruce C. Spragg, City Attorney James A. Withers, and Clerk of
the Council Florence I. Malone.
WARD BOUNDARY Council considered the
LINES report from Staff dated
November 21, recommending
a minor adjustment of
the Ward boundary line on Washington Street between Ward 3 and
Ward 5 due to re-precincting by the Orange County Registrar of
Voters which resulted in a precinct being divided by a Ward
boundary, contrary to Charter Section 101.1.
In addition the City Manager provided the following information
regarding the number of registered voters in each Ward:

2 8,496
3 11,207
4 11,125
5 6,121
6 9,357
7 7,997
and noted that there was a difference of 86 percent between the
highest and lowest registration figure.
Mayor Patterson arrived at 8:40 A.M.
RESOLUTION NO. 74-171 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
WARD BOUNDARY PUBLIC COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HEARING SANTA ANA DECLARING ITS
INTENTION TO CHANGE
BOUNDARY LINES OF WARDS AS REQUIRED BY THE CHARTER OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AND FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE OF PUBLIC HEARING
THEREON was read by title only and further reading was waived,
on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman Yamamoto,
seconded by Councilman Evans. The resolution was adopted on
the unanimously approved motion (6-0) of Councilman Yamamoto
seconded by Councilman Markel.
The Public Hearing is scheduled for December 16, 1974, at 7:30
P.M., in the City Council Chambers. (CA 108)
