HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-07-1975MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA April ?, 1975 The Meeting was called to order at 8:00 A.M., in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor Vernon S. Evans. The Clerk of the Council reported that proper Notice had been mailed and posted, with affidavits on file. The following Councilmen were present: J. Ogden Markel, John Garthe, Harry K. Yamamoto, Gordon Bricken, James E. Ward, Lorin Griset and Mayor Vernon S. Evans. Also present were City Manager Bruce C. Spragg, City Attorney James A. Withers, Lynn O'Dell, representating the "Register", and Clerk of the Council Florence I. Malone. EXECUTIVE SESSION sonnel matters. The meeting was with the same people present. Mayor Evans declared a recess at 8:05 A.M., for an Executive Ses- sion to consider per- reconvened at 9:15 A.M., RESIGNATION OF The resignation from CITY ATTORNEY the City Attorney dated April 7, 1975, was read aloud by Mayor Evans. The resignation, as stated by City Attorney James A. Withers, was to be effective immediately upon its presentation, and was a negotiated transaction predicated on the understanding that he would receive full compensa- tion at his current rate of pay up to and including May 6, 1975; and that all other benefits of every nature whatsoever presently received would continue and would be calculated through the final date of termination, May 6. The resignation of James A. In addition, Mr. Withers stated that Mr. Liberto was em- inently qualified for the appointment on both an interim and permanent basis; that he (Mr. Withers) was leaving the City a very fine staff and there should be no apprehension whatsoever as to the quality of legal representation it will receive during the interim period. Mayor Evans directed the City Manager to develop procedures immediately to recruit a City Attorney, and to present them for City Council approval at its April 14 meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 P.M., on the unanimously approved seconded by Councilman Yama- ~FJ.~ORE1NCE L A,~6,LONE CLERK OF THE COUNCIL CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 124 APRIL 7, 1975 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA April 7, 1975 The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 22 Civic Center Plaza, by the Assistant Clerk of the Council in the absence of the Mayor and Vice Mayor. There was no response to the roll call of the Council, and the Assistant Clerk declared the meeting adjourned for lack of a quorum to Tuesday, April 8, 1975 at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza. A notice to that effect was mailed to the City Council, and the news media, and was posted in the lobby and on the door of Room 831 of the City Hall, and on the entrance to the Council Chambers, with affidavit on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council.
