HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-14-1976MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA~ CALIFORNIA January 14, 1976 The Special Meeting of the City Council, scheduled for 4:00 P.M., and the Regular Meeting of the Community Re- development Agency were called to order by Mayor Garthe at 4:35 P.M., in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. The Clerk reported that proper Notice and Posting of the Special Meeting had been accomplished, with affidavits on file. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the invocation was given by Councilman Bricken. The following Council members were present: Gordon Bricken, James E. Ward, Harry K. Yamamoto and Mayor John Garthe. The following Council members were absent: David L. Brandt, Vernon S. Evans, and David F. Ortiz. Also present were City Manager Bruce C. Spragg, City Attorney Keith L. Gow, Director of Planning Charles Zim- merman, Assistant Director of Public Works John Stevens, "Register" Reporter Lynn O'Dell and Clerk of the Council Florence I. Malone. RECESS the Community Redevelopment Agency. at 5:45 P.M. with the same members The Council meeting was recessed at 4:40 P.M. by Mayor Garthe to convene The Council reconvened present. UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS Council received AIR STATION (HELICOPTER) the Staff report SANTA ANA dated January 12, 1976, regarding the proposed annexation of the Marine Corps Air Station, filed by the City of Tustin, and took the following action, on motion of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Bricken and unanimously (4:0) carried: Ratified the action taken by the Mayor to notify the Department of the Navy that the City of Santa Ana contests and protests the proposed annexation to the City of Tustin; and Authorized the Mayor to file a protest to the proposed annexation to the City of Tustin with the Local Agency Forma- tion Commission and to request a continuance of the annexation hearing for not less than 30 days to allow time to prepare a report for submittal to the Commission citing the reasons why this territory should be annexed to the City of Santa Ana rather than to the City of Tustin; and CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 19 JANUARY 14, 1976 Authorized the Mayor to initiate proceeding to annex the United States Marine Corps Air Station (Helicopter) Santa Ana to the City of Santa Ana CA 94 ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 P.M., on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman Bricken, seconded by Councilman Ward.
