RESOLUTION 95-05
RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
FOR ADDITIONAL HOUSING CERTIFICATES AND VOUCHERS UNDER THE
SECTION 8 HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
AND SUB-PROGRAMS
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the city of Santa Ana
("PHA") is authorized to administer the "Housing Assistance Program
for the section 8 Existing Program for the United States Department
of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"); and
WHEREAS, HUD notified the PHA that section 8 Housing
certificates and Vouchers are available which would increase the
number of persons of low-and moderate-income who may be assisted in
their housing within the city of Santa Ana¡ and
WHEREAS, the additional section 8 Housing certificates and
Vouchers under the section 8 Housing Assistance Program and Sub-
programs are consistent with our Comprehensive Housing
Affordability Strategy ("CHAS") ¡
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Housing Authority of the
City of Santa Ana as follows:
1. The submission of applications to the united States
Department of Housing and Urban Development for one hundred
additional section 8 Housing certificates or Vouchers under the
fair share allocation, ten additional certificates under the Family
Unification Program, one hundred certificates and vouchers to
establish a supply of mainstream housing, sixteen certificates and
vouchers for persons with HIV/AIDS and seventeen certificates and
vouchers for homeless families are hereby approved.
2. The Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the
city of Santa Ana is hereby authorized and directed to take all
necessary steps to file said applications and to provide such
information as may be required.
3. The Housing Authority declares this to be an emergency
matter under Health and Safety Code section 34292.
