MINUTES HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA September l6, 1974 The Regular Meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana was called to order at 2:07 P.M., by Chairman Harry K. Yamamoto, in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana. The following members of the Authori ty responded to the roll call: Present Absent -- John Garthe Jerry M. Patterson Vernon S. Evans James E. Ward Harry K. Yamamoto, J. Ogden Markel Lorin Griset Chai rman Commissioner Griset arrived at 2:l0 P. M. The fo llowing pers ons were al so pres ent: Manuel Rede, Executive Director-Secretary James A. Withers, Attorney for the Authority Bruce C. Spragg, City Manager Florence I. Malone, Recording Secretary Representatives of the Press The full reading of the Minutes of the August 19, 1974 meeting was waived and they were approved as mailed, on the unanimously carried (5-0) motion of Commissioner Evans, seconded by Commissioner Ward. MINUTES BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS Nothing to report. The Executive Director re- ported that 99 units were occupied, and staff is presently looking for one other unit to bring Housing up to the full complement of lOO. He added that the housing application for 500 units, 200 of which are for the elderly, has been delivered to HUD; that a recent telephone survey of 2,000 persons, conducted by staff, indicated that of 200 renters contacted, SO percent were eligible for the present low-income housing program; that of the SO percent, approximately 67 percent were eligible for the Lease and Place Program; and that 75 percent would be eligible for low- income housing under the new Section 23 Program. Mr. Rede also reported that he was monitoring information regarding the new Community Development Act of 1974, and would submit appli- cation for housing funds at the proper time. REPORT OF DIRECTOR Commissioner Patterson's motion to receive and file the report, seconded by Commissioner Garthe, was unanimously carried. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES Nothing to report.
