MINUTES
Commissioner Bricken stated that first of all the
units will be made available. We have a Housing
Authority and have demonstrated we can do the job
and we have a need in this community. On the other
hand, I feel that we should try and secure additional
units if those units are going to serve our people,
which they would, because we have the need. Yet there
are many communities in this surrounding neighborhood
who are not meeting their obligation at all. I would
be willing to allow them the privilege of meeting their
obligations by applying for them (Housing Units). I
want to secure the units if other people will not meet
their responsibilities. If there is some way we can
encourage these other communities, fine. If not let
us reserve the right to secure them, if they don't.
I am inclined to make an application and withdraw it
if other people wish to apply.
Commissioner Bricken arrived at 2;15 P.M.
BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS
Nothing to report.
The Executive
Director stated
that other Housing
Authorities had the opportunity to apply to the Department of
Housing and Urban Development for housing units; and it appears
that most of them will do so. Mr. Rede reminded the Authority
that June 11, was the final filing date for the Santa Ana Housing
Authority to apply for additional units.
