January 19, 1979
Mayor Vernon S. Evans called the special meeting of the City Council to
order at 7:00 a.m. in Room 831, 8th Floor, 20 Civic Center Plaza, and
dispensed with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and the invocation.

session with all members present.

Director had prepared a packet of
relative to the selection process
MDTION was made by Brandt, seconded by Ward, to recess the meeting to
Monday, January 22, 1979, at 5:00 p.m. to allow the Council time to
review the material submitted by the Personnel Director.

The Council convened in executive
session to discuss personnel matters.
RECONVENED
The Council reconvened in open session
with all members present except Council-
members Bricken and Ortiz.
Mayor Evans reported the Council had
reviewed the material presented by the Personnel Director relative to the
selection process for the City Manager position. Of the approximately

121 applicants, the Mayor stated the Council will interview 12 gentlemen
on successive Saturdays - January 27, 1979, and February 3, 1979. It was
anticipated the Council would be able to announce its choice for the
position at its February $, 1979, meeting. He stated eight of the appli-
cants were from California and four from out-of-state.
MDTION was made by Evans, seconded by Garthe, to recess the special meet-
ing to Saturday, January 27, 1979, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber.

ADJOURSNENT
The Council reconvened in open session.
It did not take any action relative to
the executive session, and the Mayor
declared the meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
