NO. 03-061) APPROVED o As Recommended o As Amended o Ordinance on 1 st Reading o Ordinance on 2nd Reading o Implementing Resolution o Set Public Hearing For rl/l;t2~ CITY MANAGER CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER RECOMMENDED ACTION Renew the contract with ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, Inc., for landscape maintenance services at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park and other general park locations as needed for a one-year period in the annual amount not to exceed $63,240. DISCUSSION The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency is responsible for the landscape maintenance at all City parks as well as the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. The maintenance includes: mowing and edging of turf, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, removal and control of weeds and of plant diseases and pests, plant irrigation, and the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems. Additionally, the agency is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park as a safe and attractive feature of the City. On September 2, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract to ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, Inc. for a two-year period with provision for three one-year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing.
