Sometimes in the performance of these duties, it is necessary to dig through asphalted surfaces. Rock, sand and aggregate base materials are needed to backfill the area, once the water system repair is completed. On January 21, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract to West Coast Sand & Gravel for a one-year period with provision for three one-year renewals. West Coast Sand & Gravel continues to maintain the lowest prices available, although requesting an average price increase of 31 percent. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period, and staff recommends the final renewal of the contract. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the Sanitary Sewer Services and the Water Utility Water Systems Maintenance Operating Materials & Supplies accounts (account nos. 56-575-6391 and 64-575-6391) .
