OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
OCTOBER 17, 1989
The meeting was called to order at 5:43 p.m. in the Council Chambers,
22 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor Dan Young. Councilmembers present were
John Acosta, Ron May, Patricia A. McGuigan, Rick Norton, and Miguel A.
Pulido. Also present were Deputy City Manager Jan C. Perkins, City
Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy.
City Manager David N. Ream joined the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
Councilmember Daniel E. Griset was absent.
The following members of the Redevelopment Commission were also present:
Victor Alleman, Bill Mack, John Raya, Kathleen Rosenow, and Robert Stiens.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
76.A. JOINT PUBLIC HEARING - BRISTOL CORRIDOR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA
Proposal to consider and make all necessary findings to establish a
redevelopment project area generally along Bristol Street between Memory
Lane and Central Avenue.
Legal notice published in the Register on September 18 and 25, 1989 and
October 2 and 9, 1989.
The Mayor opened the joint public hearing of the City Council, the
Community Redevelopment Agency and the Redevelopment Commission concerning
adoption of a redevelopment plan for the Bristol Corridor area at 5:48 p.m.
The Mayor introduced Joyce C. Al brian indicating she would be available to
assist in translating the proceedings into Spanish.
Presentation of statement of findings for adoption of the Redevelopment
Plan by Ed Cooper, City Attorney.
Presentation of the Redevelopment Commission report, Redevelopment Plan,
and staff comments by:
Cindy Nelson, Executive Director, Community Development Agency
Allan Robertson, Katz Hollis
Robert Hoffman, Redevelopment & Real Estate Manager, Community
Development Agency

The Mayor noted for the record that Jerrold Fadem, 12424 Wilshire Blvd.,
Los Angeles, declined to speak when asked if he wished to do so on two
occasions.
The Mayor closed the public hearing at 8:20 p.m.
JOINT ACTION BY: CITY COUNCIL, COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AND
REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
MOTION: Continue the public hearing to November 6, 1989, for preparation
of staff response to comments and questions.

RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - RO01~ 147 - 8:31 P.M.
The Clerk of the Council announced the City Council was recessing to
Closed Session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9{a) to confer
with the City Attorney regarding pending litigation which had been
initiated formally and to which the City was a party, to wit Vasquez vs.
City of Santa Ana; and also pursuant to Government Code Section 54967 to
consider personnel matters.
P.M. - Councilmember McGuiga~ left the meeting.
