COOPER, City Attorney (Excused) NEW COUNCIL ORIENTATION RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES Recreation and Community Services Executive Director Allen Doby introduced key members of his staff through a video presentation, outlined current major construction projects of the Agency, discussed his Agency's goals and objectives and demonstrated their relationship to the City's goals, and responded to Councilmembers' questions. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 360 NOVEMBER 30, 1992 Councilmember Richardson requested staff provide a copy of the Recreation Ne~ls Assessment Study recently prepared for the Agency to the new Councilmembers. Between 6:55 p.m. and 7:17 p.m., the Councilmembers, staff, and public proceeded to the Library parking area for a demonstration of fleet and utility equipment used by the Recreation and Community Services Agency. LIBRARY The Library's Executive Director Rob Richard discussed the mission and goals of the Library, presented statistics and demographics relating to Library use and expenditures, reported the Library was exploring the use of bookmobiles as adjuncts to School District media centers, and responded to Councilmembers' questions. Councilmember Moreno expressed interest in re-opening City libraries on Sundays, marketing an "Adopt a Magazine" program on cable television, making school textbooks available in the Library, and expanding computer lab facilities in the City's libraries. Councilmember Mills suggested establishing an endowment fund for the Library. CHANGE IN ORIENTATION SCHEDULE Due to personal schedules conflicting with the orientation sessions, the Council by unanimous informal consent, agreed to cancel the orientation sessions scheduled for December 3 and December 9, 1992.
