PUBLIC COMMENTS
Alberta Christy reported all legal barriers to the enforcement of the nude entertainment
ordinance had been removed. She requested the City Council enforce the ordinance against
Paddy Murphy's and encouraged the listening audience to support this action by calling the
Council Support Office at 647-6900.
Debbie McEwen expressed the appreciation of the French Park Neighborhood Association to
City staff, particularly the Police Department, for assistance and excellent service to her
neighborhood.
Ed McKee reported the residents, property owners, apartment managers and Police
Department had formed an alliance for improving the French Court Neighborhood. He
expressed thanks to the following persons for their assistance in forming the alliance:

CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS
Councilmember Espinoza commended the Police Department for its successful enforcement
action against cruising on Bristol Street, noting 75 % of the offenders did not reside in Santa
Ana.
Councilmember Mills:
suggested that outside agencies be included as part of the evaluation team
when analyzing bids in the future;
asked that the Environmental and Transportation Advisory Committee
(ETAC) review traffic modifications (requested by neighborhoods)
procedures for the time required and equity of application; and

expressed her intention to support the sales tax increase to mitigate impacts
of the Orange County bankruptcy, and asked her Council colleagues to join
her in the effort.
Councilmember McGuigan:
encouraged the listening audience to view the Disaster Preparedness exhibit

on Saturday, April 8, 1995, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.;
noted the Chilean author Isabel Allende would be featured at the Santa Ana
Library on April 19 and urged the listening audience to attend the all day
fair which would be conducted in her honor; and
reported on her attendance of a recent event sponsored by the Pacific Asian
community and formally presented Mayor Pulido with recommendations
from the Laotian and Hmong representatives for working more closely with
those groups.
Councilmember Moreno:
also commended the Police Department on its action against cruising on
Bristol, reported enforcement activity statistics demonstrating the decrease
in cruising, and thanked Assemblymember Jim Morrissey for sponsoring
legislation to aid in enforcement against cruising;
reported an increase in robberies in the Sandpointe Neighborhood and
requested increased Police patrol; and
suggested the listening audience write to the Board of Supervisors urging
the Emergency Relief Fund not be discontinued nor decreased since these
funds are used to assist the "poorest of the poor."
Mayor Pulido thanked Public Works Executive Director Jim Ross for providing information
concerning underground pipelines to him and requested the Council support legislation for
stricter undergrounding requirements as an adjunct to earthquake preparedness.
