DISCUSSION
The State of California has recently announced the funding for the Rapid
Response program for Fiscal Year 2006-07. The total amount to be awarded
is $272,088. A planning figure of $100,000 was approved by the City
Council in the City's 2006-07 budget for Rapid Response. This
appropriation adjustment will increase the budget for Rapid Response to
the actual approved amount of $272,088.
On November 7, 2005, the Santa Ana WORK Center issued a Request for
Proposals to procure a rapid response retention study funded by the Rapid
Response Grant program. The role of Rapid Response is to assist workers
to quickly return to productive positions in the workforce and assist
employers to explore al ternati ves to staffing reductions through human
resource solutions. On June 30, 2006, O'Reilly & Associates completed
the development of an early warning system to identify companies who
would benefit the most from the program.
