ADOPTION OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION RESULTS
Motion: Adopt resolution
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-078 — A resolution of the City Council of the
city of Santa Ana declaring the results of the General Municipal Election
held in said City on November 7, 2000 — Clerk of the Council Office

1998-2000 COUNCIL CONCLUSION
Mayor Pro Tern Lutz commented on his eight years on the City Council, noting that
significant positive change has occurred throughout the City due to the efforts of the
Mayor, Council and City staff. He identified several accomplishments in the past eight
years including the construction of the police facilities, reduction in crime, and arts
movement projects such as the Artists Village, the Orange County High School of the
Arts, Discovery Science Center, St. Joseph Ballet, and the growth of the Bowers
Museums.
Mayor Pulido commended Nancy Lutz for her continuing support of her husband
throughout his two terms on the City Council. Mayor Pulido thanked Tom for his service
both as Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tern, and announced that he had asked the
City Manager to work with the Orange County Contemporary Center of the Arts
(OCCCA) to dedicate a gallery within their building to Mayor Pro Tern Lutz.
Mayor Pulido adjourned the 1998-2000 City Council at 6:33 p.m.

ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM
The Mayor called for nominations for the position of Mayor Pro Tem.
Councilmember Franklin nominated Councilmember McGuigan.
Hearing no other nominations, the Mayor closed the nominations and
called for a vote.
Motion: Elect Councilmember McGuigan to the position of Mayor Pro Tem
MOTION: Franklin SECOND: Christy
VOTE: AYES: Alvarez, Bist, Christy, Franklin, McGuigan, Solorio,
Pulido (7)
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Mayor Pulido declared Councilmember McGuigan unanimously elected Mayor Pro Tem.
Mayor Pulido thanked the community for its efforts in making Santa Ana a better City,
and expressed optimism for the City's future under the leadership of the new Council.
Councilmember Solorio commented that it was an honor to serve the City as a Planning
Commissioner for three and one half years and that he was looking forward to an
effective and productive four years on the City Council. He also thanked his family for
their support.
Councilmember Alvarez thanked her supporters and stated that she was looking
forward to working with the City Council.

Mayor Pulido invited the audience to join the Council at the Bowers Museum for the
installation reception.
