NO. 06-064) APPROVED o As Recommended o As Amended o Ordinance on 1" Reading o Ordinance on 20d Reading o Implementing Resolution o Set Public Hearing For f2JI};;::L CITY MANAGER CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER RECOMMENDED ACTION Amend the contract with Williams & Maher, Inc., for electrical services by $90,000 for a total amount not to exceed $290,000 annually. DISCUSSION The City maintains approximately 60 facilities that are wired for electrical services, including City Hall, the Corporate Yard, fire stations, recreation and senior centers, libraries, and park restrooms. These public buildings range from ten to 50 years old, requiring varying levels of electrical maintenance service; from rewiring and relamping, installation of outlets, and general maintenance to upgrading of outdated electric systems and occasionally, unanticipated major projects. On June 5, 2006, City Council awarded a contract to Williams & Maher, Inc., a Santa Ana vendor, for electrical services in an annual amount of $200,000 for a two-year term. This projected cost was based on prior year usage and staff estimates for scheduled preventative maintenance projects. Due to several unanticipated requirements, including installation of telecommunications wiring for the relocated Fire Department training facilities, energy saving variable frequency drives at the Santa Ana Police Administration and Holding Facility, and emergency power for the Treasury Division's City Hall customer service center, usage has exceeded staff estimates by approximately $90,000 for the current year. Additionally, as a component of the preventative electrical maintenance, the Building Maintenance Supervisor has modified the estimated usage for next year, adding relamping of several Fire Stations and electrical upgrades and enhancements for the three computer centers serving the City Hall, the Police Administration Facility and the Fire Department. Therefore, staff recommends authorizing an amendment to the contract by $90,000 for each year of the two-year contract. 220-1 Contract Amendment for Electrical Services May 7, 2007 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the various departmental Maintenance & Repair of Buildings & Grounds accounts (objective code 6261) ~\\~~\M'~ ~ n_ f~ Francisco Gutierrez T Executive Director ~ Finance and Management Services Agency FG/BP/06-064A.2:UC 220-2
