NO. 07-030) CONTINUED TO --' FILE NUMBER CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to California Hazardous Services, Inc., for a Waste Oil Systems Upgrade in the amount not to exceed $58,863. DISCUSSION The Santa Ana Corporate Yard, constructed in 1996, provides vehicle and equipment storage areas, as well as offices for the Public Works Agency's Water and Street Maintenance Divisions, the Parks, Recreations and Community Services Agency Park Maintenance Division, and the Fleet Maintenance Division of the Finance and Management Services Agency. The fleet maintenance garage is a fully operational service and repair shop for the approximately 866 vehicles and apparatus owned by the City. The garage is equipped with hydraulic lifts, air compressors, vehicle testing equipment, and storage tanks for fuel and waste oil. All tanks are regularly monitored and tested to ensure compliance with California Water and Health and Safety Codes. Recently, California codes for design and testing of waste oil storage have changed. Current codes require stringent pressure testing of the waste oil transfer lines. The recommended action will redesign the transfer system in order to comply with the new regulations. Inland Petroleum Equipment & Repair Santa Ana, CA Bloomington, CA $58,863.00 $62,985.13 The bid received from California Hazardous Services, Inc., is responsive to the specification and meets the City's requirements. To allow for unanticipated requirements, a five percent contingency has been included in the award amount.
