Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager to
execute an agreement between the cities of Orange and Santa Ana to
rehabilitate Main Street between Walkie Way and North City Limit.
DISCUSSION
Portions of Main Street between Walkie Way and the North City Limit are
within the City limits of Orange to the west and City of Orange to the
east (Exhibit 1). The Main Street pavement is deteriorating due to
weather, age, and heavy usage. The project will provide construction of
new street pavement and replacement of damaged concrete curbs, gutters,
sidewalks, and installation of wheelchair ramps and bus pads.
The City of Santa Ana has received a Federal grant from The Arterial
Highways Rehabilitation Program to rehabilitate Main Street. In order to
enhance ride quality and visual appearance of the entire street, Orange
has agreed to rehabilitate their portion of the street in conjunction
with the City of Santa Ana project and reimburse the City for
approximately 90 of the project cost.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Environmental Review No. 2005-90 has been completed and a Categorical
Exemption has been filed for this Project.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for the proposed agreement are available in Select Street
Construction Fund (account no. 059-551-6631, project no. 06-1009) and
Measure M Construction Fund (account no. 032-551-6631, project no. 06-
1009).
