1. Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting the State of California,
Office of Emergency Services 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant in the
amount of $50,000 into the revenue account no. 155-01-5370-2 and
appropriate same into the Office of Emergency Services 2007 Anti-Gang
Initiative Grant overtime expenditure account no. 155-362-6141.
2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to execute a grant
award agreement with the State of California, Office of Emergency
Services.
DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department has received the 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative
award from the Office of Emergency Services in the amount of $50,000. This
is the second year of funding under this program. The grant funds will be
utilized to support the activities of the Santa Nita Gang Injunction
efforts within the Safety Zone. The Safety Zone is defined as a particular
identified area of the city in which gang members conduct their criminal
activities. The goals, as specified in the grant, are to reduce Part I UCR
crime, gang nuisance activity, and overall crime by 25o within the Safety
Zone.
Staff recommends approval of the recommended actions as the grant program
positively impacts the community by directly aiding in the efforts to
reduce gang activities.

FISCAL IMPACT
The appropriation adjustment will increase the State of California, Office
of Emergency Services 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant revenue account (no.
155-01-5370-2) by an amount of $50,000 and increase the same into the
Office of Emergency Services 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant overtime
expenditure account (no. 155-362-6141).

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND
THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD
AGREEMENT WITH THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY
SERVICES

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and
declares as follows:
A. The State of California, Office of Emergency Services has awarded to the Santa
Ana Police Department a 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant in the amount of fifty
thousand dollars ($50,000.00).
B. This funding provides for overtime related to the continued gang enforcement
activities of the Santa Nita Gang Injunction which will serve to positively impact
the community by directly aiding in the efforts to reduce gang activity and reduce
Part 1 UCR crimes.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorize the Chief of
Police to execute a grant award agreement with the State of California, Office of
Emergency Services in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00).
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City
Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this
Resolution.
