RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting the 2008 Click-It or Ticket
Grant award in the amount of $12,000 into the revenue account (account no.
165-01-5360-1) and appropriate same into the 2008 Click-It or Ticket Grant
Overtime expenditure account (account no. 165-346).
DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department has been awarded a $12,000 grant from the
DC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center (TSC) for the 2008 Click-It or Ticket
Grant Program. TSC is under contract with the California Office of Traffic
Safety to administer this grant. This grant funding will allow the Police
Department's Traffic Division to enforce seat belt use on an overtime
basis. The goal of the project is to increase seat belt use statewide to
95% by July 31, 2008. This program combines efforts of state and local law
enforcement during a 21 day mobilization period, May 12 - June 1, 2008.
FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the appropriation adjustment will enhance the 2008 Click-It or
Ticket Grant Program revenue account (account no. 165-01-5360-1) by $12,000
and increase the same into the overtime expenditure account (account no.
165-346) .
