Authorize the donation of surplus Police Department Computer Aided Dispatch
(CAD) Computers and keyboards to City of Mountain View Police Department.
DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department has replaced its Computer Aided Dispatch
System with a new upgraded system. The old CAD System is no longer of any
value or use to the Police Department as the system and its parts are 15
years old and can not be placed or repaired. The City of Mountain View
Police Department has a system similar to the one our Police Department has
replaced; they lack the resources to replace their systems and can not
obtain the outdated replacement equipment. The Police Department wishes to
donate approximately 15 CAD computers and keyboards as they cannot sell the
equipment as surplus and would otherwise be subject to destruction by the
City.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.
