Award a contract to JSI Telecom for electronic communications intercept
room equipment upgrade in amount not to exceed $50,000.
DISCUSSION
The Police Department's electronic communications intercept room (Wire
Room) provides the capability to conduct approved telephone intercepts.
The Wire Room is one of only a few in Orange County. As such, other
municipal and federal agencies also rely on its intercept capability. The
Wire Room is currently equipped with the Voice Box III 3.6 software version
and equipment. The existing equipment requires extensive repair and is no
longer reliable.
In order for the Wire Room to remain operational, hardware upgrades are
essential. Staff has determined that JSI Telecom is uniquely suited to
provide the equipment upgrade and recommends approval of the recommended
action.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Police
