RECOMMENDED ACTION
Renew the contract with Fisher Scientific for safety gloves for aone-year period in an annual
amount not to exceed $35,000.
DISCUSSION
The Central Stores section of the Finance and Management Services Agency provides safety
gloves to various departments throughout the City for use in the performance of their duties.
Included are disposable neoprene gloves for use with chemicals, single use nitrite gloves for light
duty, G-Tek puncture-resistant gloves are used extensively by the water department, and canvas
and leather work gloves are used throughout the organization. The contract for safety gloves is
designed to provide quality products at significant savings based on quantity pricing.
On April 6, 2009, the City Council awarded a contract to Fisher Scientific for aone-year period
with provision for three one-year renewals. Fisher Scientific has performed satisfactorily during
the past contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing. Staff
recommends the first renewal of the contract.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the various departmental Operating Miscellaneous Office Expense
accounts (no. 63001).
